Thorntown -- Ida Idona Grimes, 96 of Rt. 1, Thorntown died at 10 a. m. Thursday at the home of her son, Virgil, near Darlington. She had been bedfast the last 10 months. A daughter of James M. and Sarah Booher Griffin, she was born in Montgomery County Sept 18, 1870. She married John Calvin Grimes May 27, 1891. He died Aug 21, 1946. Most of her life was spent on the farm on Rt. 1. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church near Darlington and was active as long as health permitted in its Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the MCB Club. Survivors include, besidest the son, a daughter, Mrs. Janet Schwegler of Parkersburg W VA; six grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Two sons, 7 brothers and 3 sisters are deceased. Funeral services are annoucned for 2 p. m. Saturday at Russell & Hitch Funeral Home in Thorntown where friends may call beginning Friday afternoon. Pastor Howard Marken will officiate at the services withinterment in the Lutheran Cemetery near the church. -- typed by kbz
